Leadership Development Programme

ECOve

Tobias Bedford

The LDP was a great experience broadening horizons and acquiring new skills that are implemented in my day-to-day life. The leadership team really honed in on peoples qualities, skills and accelerated them to excellence.

I had the privilege in working with a great group of people, discussions, building friendships and bringing out the best in one another. Due to the industry, we are in, ideas and projects can always evolve, or circumstances change which is why a group formed, ECOve.

Ian Fullick, Luther Ginman, and I joined forces with my idea, ECOve. ECOve is to be the change for the better, where the environment is concerned, we envision the whole of Cove UK to go green.

As of now both Ian And I are part of a Working group with 26 Participants, We discuss, we plan, we implement, and envision! We have Laura Jurczak to thank in believing in our idea and bringing it action, to have a passionate Executive on board really puts a spring in your step.

I’d like to dedicate this line for all participants with ECOve, in saying a massive thank you for all the wonderful things you are doing, you know who you are. Watch this space.

Accessible Play Park

The idea originated from seeing a young girl pushing a young boy in a wheelchair around the site at Gwel An Mor. This got me thinking about what we offered at the time and if we were able to improve the site to be more accessible. We already had the accessible lodges but with no outside area for siblings and family to play together it was an area that needed to be looked at.

Following the implantation of the new play area in 2023 I have gone on to work with local groups who are assisting young adults with hidden disabilities in trying to find work placements. This now works as we have two sets of students from the local college who attend on a Wednesday and Friday and go with different teams on site to learn new skill sets.

We have just taken on 2 work placements from 'Work Your Way' who following doing work on site will hopefully be able to work independently and secure a seasonal or full time role.

At housekeeping we hired 4 team members from Fed cap Employment who have been amazing and the confidence they now show in themselves has been a great achievement for them and us as employers.

I am working with 'Diversity to Thrive' to enhance offerings and to see what else we as an employer can do to help those who normally struggle with gaining work in a working environment.

Chefs' Academy

Tomas Cipka

I started working at the Cove UK 3 years ago and I love the Cove Culture values and the way the company is growing. The leadership team here is passionate about their work and so am I. Cove for me is an incredible company, they have helped me grow as a person and develop my career.

I have worked in the holiday industry for many years and here is by far the best. Cove values the team and is spending a lot of time and effort in many forms of training programs. So much so that in early 2023 we will be running a chef’s academy. We will be training the team and giving them opportunities to develop their skills, mentoring and coaching them to become successful team members or leaders.

The chef academy is for anyone who would like to learn our " culinary/ culture program " in the kitchen and learn about our standards on how to deliver 100% customer satisfaction. Our academy is about leadership, learning, and developing the quality of individuals, our aim is to create expectational chefs, inspiring individuals to become a Sous chefs or Head chefs in the future.

I’m proud to work for Cove UK and I’m really pleased to run the project for the chef academy. I’m sure this will be a national success in future development.

Since Tomas returned to his home country to be with his family, we are pleased to announce that Jason Wardill will be continuing the Chefs' Academy for 2024!
